Ronda and I tackled this epic trail. I initially hiked this trail, but from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir to Tuolumne Meadows over 30 years ago. Ronda’s first trip ever was this route 4 years ago and spurred her interest in backpacking with me. She’s been asking to do this trail with me to relive it and do it the way we backpack. I’ve pulled permits the past 3 years for this tip but three years ago Highway 120 was not opened yet as I pulled the permit for an early June start (the prior years the Sierra was in a drought. Last year I planned it for the end of June. No way 120 would still be closed. I didn’t anticipate a record winter snow year, and it remained closed until well into July. So I tried one more time. the Road was open, the water was flowing, and we were ready!
